This week a survey finds children spend more time online than watching TV, Apple buy edtech start-up LearnSprout and review of BBC micro:bit at Bett 2016.

Children spend more time online than watching TV
Children and young people now spend more time socialising and playing online than watching television programmes. This is according to an Childwise’s annual tracking survey of children’s media behaviour. It also showed a 50% increase in children’s tablet ownership. 

Apple buys edtech business LearnSprout
Apple has acquired startup LearnSprout which makes software that enables teachers to track and analyse students performance.  Commentators are seeing this acquisition as a response to the increasing popularity of Google’s Chromebooks in the U.S. education market.

Review of BBC micro.bit at Bett Show
The micro.bit was demonstrated at the STEAM village at Bett 2016. The Huffington Post took a look and were impressed with what they saw.
