Creating content

Students can now access an almost infinite range of content, which means that teachers are evolving into facilitators – encouraging students to decide how they want to access and present learning. This means that both teachers and students are creating more customised content.

Customising Content Using Multi-purpose Apps

Multi-purpose apps such as the following can be used to customise learning:

  • Mindmapping (i.e. Popplet)
  • Word-processing
  • Video and audio (i.e. iMovie)
  • Presentation (i.e. Keynote)

I read through [student work], recorded a comment and then sent it … by the time I’d finished I already had four [students] emailing saying thanks … in 30 seconds I can do half a side of A4s feedback.”

Resources to Create Content: Examples

Many teachers created tailored resources using a variety of resources:

  • Ebooks were enhanced with screencasts (interactive tutorials) created with Explain Everything (iTunes and Google Play)
  • Nearpod (iTunes and Google Play) enabled teachers to manage content on student devices and create interactive presentations
  • Quizzes were created with Socrative (iTunes or Google Play). Teachers shared exercises with student tablets, and results appear on the classroom screen
  • Teachers created editable courses on iTunes U

Teachers like to create their own content because they know the content…”
